Oleksander Antoniuk
UX & XR Researcher
Oleksander (Sasha) Antoniuk is a UX and XR Researcher at the Nimbus Research Centre, specialising in extended reality, user experience design, and immersive interaction. His work focuses on developing engaging and intuitive VR solutions using advanced prototyping tools and emerging technologies. Sasha is particularly interested in training, education, and wellbeing applications, where he combines user-centred design principles with technical innovation.
At Nimbus, Sasha contributes to multiple XR projects, including health and safety training simulations, educational gamified experiences, and behaviour-driven interaction systems. He places strong emphasis on accessibility, behavioural insights, and clear interaction design to ensure users feel confident, supported, and fully immersed in virtual environments.
Sasha’s technical skillset includes extensive experience in Unreal Engine, Blueprint systems, and VR development pipelines. He works confidently with coding languages and scripting environments such as C++, C#, and JavaScript, enabling him to integrate custom interactions, refine gameplay logic, and develop efficient workflow pipelines across projects. His creative and technical background also includes 3D modelling, texturing, rigging, and animation, allowing him to prototype environments, characters, and visual interactions rapidly and effectively.
He is currently developing an adaptive, mindfulness-focused VR experience as part of his final year project, exploring how immersive environments can help users slow down, reduce stress, and improve mental well-being through thoughtful UX design and responsive worldbuilding.
Outside of research, Sasha brings experience in filmmaking, interactive storytelling, and UI/UX design, giving his work a distinctive blend of technical depth and artistic vision.
